The design for this table is based on etchings by the architect Charles
Heathcote Tatham (1772 – 1842) of an ancient Roman example in The
Vatican. The Medicis Breccia marble top is supported by three lion’s
head monopodia decorated with acanthus leaves and united by an
arched and panelled ‘stretcher’ or support.
