A late 19th century, Neo classical revival, white statuary marble chimney piece inlaid with Blue John. The moulded,  breakfront shelf with inlaid Blue John dentil moulding. The frieze with a deeply carved bas relief, centered with a caped urn decorated with a bacchic mask. Swags of inverted bell shaped flowers fall and are held by the scrolling handles. This is flanked by circular wreaths of entwined grape leaves and bunches of grapes centered with up turned wine ewers, a rejoinder to drink up. To either side are bands of finger flutes inlaid with Blue John. The jambs are in the form of tapering and fluted pilasters with Ionic caps. The blockings with campana shaped lidded urns echoing the central tablet. The whole raised on rectangular plinth blocks.
